Venezuela celebra el ingreso de Bolivia al Consejo de Seguridad de la ONU

La canciller de la República, Delcy Rodríguez, celebró la incorporación de Bolivia como miembro no permanente del Consejo de Seguridad de la Organización de Naciones Unidas (ONU), la tercera vez que el país suramericano resulta electo para ese órgano.

“Venezuela celebra ingreso de Bolivia al Consejo de Seguridad. Cumplimos con la defensa de principios y propósitos de la ONU, así como soberanía de los pueblos”, expresó Rodríguez a través de la red social Twitter.

El bienio 2017-2018 será el tercero del país latinoamericano en el máximo órgano de decisión de las Naciones Unidas, un puesto que no ocupaba desde 1979.

Su primera participación fue entre 1964 y 1965

La candidatura boliviana contaba con el aval del grupo de países de Latinoamérica y el Caribe, por lo que no tuvo oposición en la votación celebrada el pasado mes de junio en la Asamblea General de la ONU, donde obtuvo el respaldo de 183 de los 193 Estados miembros.

El embajador boliviano ante la ONU, Sacha Llorenti, ha adelantado que entre las prioridades del país estará el tema palestino, el proceso de paz en Colombia y la defensa de los principios de la carta de las Naciones Unidas.
